Gimli Beach

This long stretch of beach along Lake Winnipeg has a playground right on it, plus a boardwalk, restaurants, spray pad, and shops within walking distance.

Birds Hill Provincial Park

Hwy 59, Oakbank

Spend the day on the beach or take advantage of the hiking and biking trails in this 35 sq. km (22 sq. m) park. Enjoy a picnic or a restaurant meal, watch wildlife, and so much more.

Wekusko Falls

Spend the day on the beach at Wekusko Falls Provincial Park, but don't forget to check out the two suspension bridges overlooking Wekusko Falls or the nearby playground.

A man-made beach with a concession stand and dock, Kinsmen Beach in Stonewall's Quarry Park is a family friendly spot to spend a sunny day.

Rainbow Falls

A scenic spot ideal for families, with shallow water and a sandy beach. The small waterfall is a beautiful backdrop (and a fun slide for bigger kids!).

West Hawk Main Beach

Shallow water and a sandy shore make this beach a popular family spot. Pick blueberries on a nearby hiking trail, visit the playground or check out a local restaurant.

Grand Beach

Off Hwy 59, one hr. north of Winnipeg

With shallow water for young swimmers, this beach is popular amongst families. Take a walk along the trails, check out the sand dunes, or grab a bite at one of the nearby establishments.

Nature & animal sanctuaries

 

The 10 Acre Woods

The 10 Acre Woods is a farm animal rescue that opens its doors to the public on weekends from spring to fall, to provide socialization for the animals as well as animal therapy.

Delta Marsh Wildlife Management Area

MB-240, 30 km north of Portage la Prairie

In the summer, see colourful warblers, sandpipers and pelicans making their home in the Delta Marsh. Camping is available nearby, at the Delta Beach Campground.

Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary

Half-kilometre east of Rennie on Hwy 44

Visit in early June to see little goslings and their parents, or late August to Thanks​giving to see hundreds of geese getting ready to migrate. Free admission.
